What is the International Balloon Festival?
The International Balloon Festival is much more than an air show: it’s a cultural, tourist, and musical gathering that transforms León, Guanajuato, into the epicenter of ballooning in Mexico. Since its first edition in 2002, the FIG has grown every year to become one of the most important balloon festivals in Latin America and one of the top three worldwide.
Each year, León’s sky fills with color as more than 200 hot air balloons from different countries take flight, many with special designs that amaze both children and adults. Besides the traditional morning inflations, one of the most anticipated moments is the “Noche Mágica” (Magic Night), when balloons stay on the ground illuminated to the rhythm of the music, creating a unique visual spectacle.
The festival doesn’t stop in the sky—on the ground, there are concerts, exhibitions, workshops, food and shopping areas, recreational spaces, and family‑friendly attractions.
