How to get to Mazunte from Huatulco and Oaxaca?
This charming destination is located between Puerto Ángel and Zipolite, just over an hour’s drive from Huatulco airport. If you decide to travel to Mazunte by car from there, follow these steps: Leave Huatulco via federal highway 200 heading west toward Puerto Ángel. Continue for approximately 50 km until you reach the town of San Antonio, where you’ll find a marked turnoff to Mazunte. Take that turnoff and follow the signs for about 6 more km until you reach Mazunte. The total journey is about 56 km and takes around 50 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. If you don’t have your own vehicle, we also recommend car rental in Huatulco for a more flexible and comfortable trip. The route between Oaxaca and Mazunte is approximately 238 km and takes around 3.5 hours. To get there by car, follow these directions: Leave the city of Oaxaca via Federal Highway 175 heading south. At the Barranca Larga junction, take the new Oaxaca - Puerto Escondido Highway (Barranca Larga - Ventanilla). The highway will take you directly to the point known as Ventanilla, near San Pedro Pochutla, on the Oaxacan coast. Once you arrive in Ventanilla, exit the highway and take federal highway 200 west (toward Puerto Ángel and Zipolite) for about 12 km. Follow the signs to Mazunte, taking a well-marked turnoff to the south. In about 10 to 15 more minutes, you’ll be entering the town.
