The fastest way to get to the Grutas de García from downtown Monterrey is by following this route: take Madero Avenue and continue to Gonzalitos Avenue. From there, go straight on Paseo de los Leones and then take Lincoln Road towards Garcia. Once you reach the municipality of Garcia, follow Cumbres del Sol Avenue until you find the road to the Grutas de Garcia, which will take you directly to the tourist destination.
What are the attractions of the Grutas de García?
Since 1948, the Grottos of Garcia were conditioned to receive tourists, with adequate lighting and stairs that facilitate the tour.
Inside the caves, you will find a series of balconies from which you can admire rock formations that have been developing for millions of years, some of which are still growing. Among the most outstanding are El Mirador de la Mano, El Salón del Aire, La Octava Maravilla, El Nacimiento and El Árbol de Navidad, among others.

What is the history of the García Caves?
In 1843, while the Marmolejo family was searching for firewood, they came across a system of caverns hidden in the region. Fascinated by their discovery, they decided to contact the priest Juan Antonio Sobrevilla to share what they had found.
Ignacio Marmolejo led the first formal exploration of these mysterious caves. Years later, in 1948, the first tourist facilities were opened to facilitate access to the public, with trails and lighting systems that allowed the caves to be explored safely by visitors.
